Rear view of the Chateau Laurier in Ottawa.  This stunning hotel has a long history, but I’ll only share one piece… back in 1954, you could get a room for 5$ a night.  Granted, it didn’t have a washroom.. but still impossible today!

At the base of the Peace Tower, there’s a room filled with books holding the names of every fallen service man and woman in Canada’s history.
This one in particular is the Merchant Navy -they were civilians but incredibly brave and important to the supply of the Allied militaries in both World Wars.  My great grandad was a Merchant Marine, albeit England’s and not Canada’s.

My lovely friend Keshia on a photowalk we took in Ottawa while I was staying with her.
Can you guess what building is reflected in her sunglasses?

This is the National Gallery of Canada.
I went on a search for the Museum of Contemporary Photography when I was in Ottawa, only to find out it had been moved inside this building, which of course I had walked past about four times.

Flowers, of course ;)  Couldn’t spend time in a city as beautiful and as full of flowers as Ottawa without taking a couple shots of a garden.

The locks of the Rideau Canal.  To the left you can see the Chateau Frontenac.

When I was a kid, my grandparents lived in the middle of nowhere, but near a section of the Trent Severn Waterway.  Since then, I’ve been fascinated by locks.  The locks I’m talking about basically allow boats to travel upwards or downwards, where one body of water is physically higher than the other.  A better explanation can be found here.

So, here’s a photo from my little Ottawa trip.  My brother chose this one as one of his favourites, but that was only out of one memory card.  It’s an RCMP car in front of Parliament Hill.
The trip was short, but I got a lot of sightseeing in and spent time with two of my good friends that I haven’t seen in ages.  I also took a ton of photos and sprained my knee by walking around so much haha.  All in the name of art though!
